TRON: Legacy -
TRON is about a man named Sam Flynn who is the son of Kevin Flynn. Sam looks into his farther disappearance and finds himself pulled into the same world of fierce programs and gladiatorial  games where his farther has been living for the past 20 years.

TRON: Legacy Opening Sequence:
We see lots of genre conventions here as it is a adventure action sci-fi genre. Firstly we see the usual Disney logo at the start but with a twist as it is presented to us in a futuristic way, with there being blue lights to represent the future and the sci-fi genre. Also as we move throughout the city we see it is being created on 'the grid' which further more represents the sci-fi genre, also linking in with the action adventure as they are usually set in a city of some sort. As we get further into the scene, we see that the futuristic digital world turns into the real world, as the camera does a 90 degree rotate through the buildings we see the TRON logo, furthermore showing us that it is related to the sci-fi genre. Finally we pan down to see a house with the number '1989' showing us that it is set during that time period.

Setting:
At the start of the scene we see a Disney logo which is presented as it was in the future. After this we see a fade away to the camera moving right and we are presented with 'The Grid' which may show us that the movie may be set in another world as no aspects of real world objects are seen in this sequence. Although after a couple of seconds the future looking scene starts making building shapes and starts to turn into a real life city setting making us think that the movie will just be set in the real world and in a city. Although when the camera rotates to go through two building we see the TRON logo, and this makes the audience wonder is the two worlds we saw will collide.

Mise-en-Scene:
At the start of the scene we see some futuristic lights coming down the screen to give the impression that we getting scanned, and we see this blue lit lighting to convey that we are in the future or in another world. Next we see the Disney logo start to appear in the same colour blue which conveys even more that this is set in the future. When we see the city, is is mainly in low key lighting as it is night time, until we get to the TRON logo which is very high key lighting to show that it isn't supposed to be there. Finally we get to the house at the end which has some lights inside of it, and this suggests that this is a safe place to be, away from danger of the low key light city.

Camera Work:
Next we see how camera work can convey this type of genre and see what it means. The first real shot we get is of the moving camera going right, whilst this is happening we are seeing a extreme long shot of the road below us, which then turns into a extreme close up as we go through the TRON logo through the buildings. The long shot is to show us the setting we are in and how the 'TRON world' changes into the real world through the editing. We finish off on a long shot of the house which then the camera slowly pans in to show the activity in the house.

Sound:
At the start of the clip we hear a quiet swoosh sound as the Disney logo appears. After, it fades into 'The Grid' which then 1980-90's electronic music start playing, this is maybe to show what year this is set in, and to show that the movie will be set in the future or in another world. After we hear the non- diegetic sound of a old sounding man talking about 'The Grid'. After he says 'the circuits are like freeways' whilst showing us the road from the extreme long shot. This is maybe to get us in with the scene. All throughout this sequence we hear the electronic music over the top of the non-diegetic voice over. When we zoom in toward the house we hear that the music takes over the voice to show this is where the people are talking from.

Titles:
The only title in the starting sequence of the film is the Disney logo that is presented in the theme of the movie, blue and futuristic. And the logo is in the middle of the screen.

I might use the titles at the start of my film to give it a better effect towards the audience. Also I might use the voice over and then zoom in into the people talking. I couldn't use all the special effects that have been used in this movie clip because I wouldn't have the technology available to me.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey -
This is about a Hobbit called Bilbo Baggins, as he sets out on an adventure to the lonely mountain with a group of dwarves to reclaim their mountain home.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey opening sequence.

Here we see lots of conventions of the adventure fantasy genre. Firstly we see Bilbo walking down a small hallway with lots of tree roots coming through the walls, this is the first indication of a fantasy setting. Then we see old books which is stereotypical in fantasy genres. We then see a map of middle earth, a map different to ours so it would be set in another land, therefore again being stereotypical of a fantasy world and genre. Also maps are associated with the adventure genre.

Setting:
Firstly we see the setting of a small house to which we see Bilbo living in. We see from the surroundings that he is old, and has lots of stuff collected around him. Then we cut to a map where we are shown where the next location is set. We see a busy town with large trees and buildings also with lots of markets, this shows the fantasy genre even more especially when the camera pans around over the city to a giant mountain with a large door and large statues. This is stereotypical to the fantasy genre. Also the buildings have a very authentic look about them which reflects the surroundings and that it is set in a fictional world. Next we cut away to view inside the mountain. There are giant statues once again and the long walk ways elevated above the ground shows that this is set in a fantasy world. We then cut away to the insides of a cave where you can see lights of gold coating the walls, and this can represent the riches of this civilisation in this fantasy world.

Mise-en-Scene:
Firstly, we see high key lighting focusing on Bilbo as he walks through his home. This is so we can see the different objects he picks up and shows the camera, and also this is so the audience can see his facial expressions clearly when he looks at a old picture of himself. The the camera moves away slowly to show us that Bilbo is in a room by himself which is the only lit up room in the house. Also during these scenes we see lots of props that Bilbo picks up to remind him of adventures he had. Next we see the city and how it is very lit up showing the energy of the city, also the sun lights up the big door in the mountain to make us look at it as it is the focusing point of the scene. Next wee see on the wall Dwarve guards in silver armour. This shows that they are in a fantasy world. Inside the mountain we see a contrast of high yellow key lighting and low key lighting to make the yellow stand out more, and this is to show the audience that the dwarves are rich.

Camera Work:
At the start of the scene we see a close up of Frodo lighting a candle, then we see lots of other close ups of props to show the audience of what he used to look like and how he had his adventure. Then it pans out and then cuts to a map to show us where we are in this world. Next we see lots of long shots of the city, and how happy everyone is. We then get a pan across the city to show us what it looks like in this fantasy world. We also see lots of close ups on peoples faces to show the audience their expressions, especially when they find the Arkenstone.

Sound:
At the start there is a gentle violin/flute sound to make the pace of the scene really calm and relaxing as Frodo tells us his story. The it changes to mostly strings to make the setting of the city jolly and happy, whilst we are looking at people being happy. When we get a shot of the door in the mountain and the music tones down and turns into a deep brass/trumpet sound, this is to show that something bad is going to happen in this area, to the Dwarves. All throughout this there is a voice over of Frodo explaining the story of how his adventure started.

Titles:
We see at the start the companies that were involved in the making of The Hobbit. They come in one after the other, with them all being in the middle of the screen. They also all have the same colour scheme of golds and yellows, maybe to fit with the start of the movie how the colours are mostly golds and dark yellows.

I might still use the voice over in my own clip, also use a map of some sort to show the audience where the film is set. I will also include music that will fit with the film genre I will pick.

Back to the Future:

setting:
It is set in a house in 1985 where we see lots of clocks and hear lots of ticking noises from the clocks. We pan across the room to show us that it is a normal room treat is just a bit messy and maybe that a person doesn't live here at the time. We also see this when we pan across to the dog food as it is piled up on the floor.

Mise-En-Scene:
Firstly we see lots of clocks all on the same time with each other, and this shows that the person who is living here is crazy with time (and we see this later in the movie when they go time traveling). Also the lighting of the room is low key to show that all the lights have gone out, and this maybe shows how long people have not been living here for, also that there is lots of rubbish everywhere further pointing this idea.We also see when the main character comes in that he is wearing normal clothes and that shows us that he isn't supposed to be here.

Camera Work:
There is lots of close ups on the clocks and different objects in the house to show the audience how the person lives here lives. We also get a long pan of the whole room with no cutting to show how big the room is and to show how much stuff is in the room at the time.

Sound:
Throughout the scene we hear lots of ticking from the clocks and this is to how that the person living here is obsessed with time. Also is is silent at the start of the scene to make the audience questioning what is happening.

Titles:
At the start we see the old Universal title, an this is in the middle of the screen using blue colours. Then we cut into a plain looking screen where the directors names are shown.

 Scott Pilgrim Vs the World

Mise-en-scene is used in the first scene were we see Scott pilgrim in a room with three other people who are his friends. We see first from the long shot that they are all wearing normal clothes so we assume that it is set in the present day, which might fit in with the action comedy genre it is. We also see that it is set in a normal kitchen, which is stereotypical of a comedy, to be set in places around the home. Next we get a lot of high key lighting to see the characters reactions to each other, and not a lot of low key as it isn’t a horror or thriller genre of movie. And finally we see that the acting for the characters are like they are having a normal chat, as they ask the main protagonist if he is 28, and he replies ‘I’m not playing your little games kids.’, and this is to represent the comedy genre of the film. There are also little animations in the clip to show us that the theme of the movie is based on a video game, which are thought to be mainly action, and this is why it will fit in with the action genre very well.

The main part of the clip is when the main protagonists’ girlfriend walk in and they start playing a song in their band, to which an indie-rock song comes on to show what their personalities like; very different and gamer like. Also during the clip sounds of video games being played by Young Neil to keep the atmosphere a bit more interesting whilst the others were talking, and again this shows the action genre of the film. Although throughout the clip there is actually no music, and this is to gain more attention to the other actors speaking around the table, to hear about Scott dating a high schooler, and this links in with the comedy side of the film as Scott says things like ‘we nearly held hands once’, which is a diegetic sound, which can be heard throughout the first scene of the clip.

We also see editing in the clip and how it relates to the genre. Firstly we see lots of shot on shot action where the characters are speaking to each other. I think this helps the clip convey the genre by showing us the different reactions of the characters, which will make up the comedy genre. We also see lots of animations during the clip to show that it is based on a game feel, and therefore fits in the action genre, and we see this when we are introduced to the other characters as it says their name and age and what rating they are, e.g. Scott is rated as ‘AWESOME’. The pace of the scene starts of really slow to show the relaxation of the characters around the table, but the suddenly gets faster when Knives knocks on the door and the characters start moving around to get ready in their band.

We finally get different types of camera work to betray the genre. Firstly we get a small long establishing shot of the setting they are in to set the scene of the film. Next we get lots of over the shoulder shots to show who the characters are talking to, and to also show their reactions so it will fit in with the comedy genre, and linking in with this there are a lot of close ups on the face, to show again the reactions and to show who is speaking. At the end of the conversation at the table, we see a long shot of everyone around that table, and this is to show where everyone is sitting, and it shows that everyone is calm and relaxed, which is stereotypical of an action film, to be very calm at the start. Also we get a zoom out when Scott and Stephen finish speaking to show the surrounding, and to show that Knives is at the door, and when she walks in we get a cut to a long shot of the living room with all the music equipment.

Here we get a long shot to set the scene, and we usually get these in any film to see where the film is set.

Here we get a long shot to see who is in the room at this moment. We also see Scott standing up doing something, which will maybe give the audience an idea of who the main protagonist is. And it also looks like that Scott id more powerful over the others as he is the highest character on the set.

Here we see a close up on Scotts face to see the expression he is making to the comment he has just been given. We also see a bit of editing on how a black box with Scotts information came up, and this is to fit in with the action genre on how it links into gaming, and how we are introduced to the characters.

Here we see an over the shoulder shot to show who Scott is speaking to. This is to show the reaction on the other characters face, which she looks very bored.

Here we see the editing that has been done with the text that appears in a video game/comic book style. And this maybe conveys the action genre as games and comic books are genially action orientated.

Here we see a zoom out after the two characters are speaking, and this is to give us a wider view of the surroundings and the character that is standing at the door. We also see that the man on the left looks more serious whilst speaking, and this may convey the action genre, but after he says 'your clear', giving the clip a bit of the comedy genre.
